In the past this was the Mays Landing Railroad Station which was served by the West Jersey and Seashore Railroad. The tracks were part of Atlantic Division and were on the Newfield Branch.
According to the map on the South Jersey Rail Wiki (http://www.sjrail.com/wiki/images/f/fa/1920_Atlantic_Division_%28WJ%26S%29_Map.jpg) , there was service eastbound to Atlantic City through Pleasantville. The next stop eastward was Courthouse Platform which was also in Mays Landing. Much of route has become the Atlantic County Bikeway. The only tracks that remain are after what was the crossing of the Blackhorse Pike (US 322/US 40) in Egg Harbor Township near the former Shore Mall (39.402859, -74.562134).
It appears that there was service westward to Camden into Philadelphia through Newfield, Glassboro and Woodbury. The next stop westward was Weymouth.
According to an article in the Press of Atlantic City on January 16, 2014 (http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/breaking/historic-mays-landing-train-station-has-sat-empty-for-decades/article_0c98afb6-7f31-11e3-8824-001a4bcf887a.html), the station opened in 1929. Regularly scheduled passenger train service was discontinued in 1950. Atlantic County owns the station and the associated nearby rail bed. The thought is that it would be nice to make some repairs to make it presentable, but county funds would better be spent elsewhere.
