Imagine if there were two 24-hour cable television channels, one dedicated to each of the two groups. The channels would not show the games. There would only be clips of player interviews and very biased analysis of the games.
Highlights on the Phillies channel would include:
- Phillies batters hitting homeruns and audience shots of cheering fans
- Phillies base runners stealing bases and audience shots of cheering fans
- Phillies outfielders making great catches and audience shots of cheering fans
- Phillies challenging an umpire’s call; the facial expressions of the sneering fans of the other team; the call reversed; the facial expressions of the angry fans of the other team; the facial expressions of the happy Phillies fans
- Yankees players spitting in the dugout
- Yankees base runners getting called out stealing bases and audience shots of disappointed Yankees fans
- Yankees players throwing things in the dugout after getting called out or botching a play
- Yankees challenging an umpire’s call, and the call on the field stands; the facial expressions of the disappointed Yankees fans
This is what 24-hour cable news has become; very little news and strongly biased emotionally-driven opinions.
