On the way to church I heard Rock n Roll Fantasy by Bad Company, and then Chuck E's In Love by Rickie Lee Jones. After church, I heard Love You Inside Out by the Bee Gees and then Hot Stuff by Donna Summer.
In 1979, I finished ninth grade and started tenth grade. This is when I made the transition from listening to WARM, The Mighty 590 (590 AM) and WBQW, 13Q (1320 AM formerly WSCR) in Scranton, PA, and started to listen to WEZX, Rock 107. At the time it was on 107.1 FM, and had recently had a format change from Easy-EZX which was Easy Listening/Beautiful Music.
From listening to AM radio, I was familiar with three of the four songs. The local AM stations did not play Bad Company, even though they had Top 40 tunes. I never heard any music by Bad Company until I made the transition to listening to FM Album-oriented Rock (AOR). I’ve noticed this for other songs as well; songs that they played on Rock 107 that made the Top 40 Singles Charts were never played on the AM stations. This was even before WEZX became an AOR station. Ironically, today we still hear the 1970s and 1980s AOR songs, but most of the AM hits are forgotten.
